Christian Aid
The
people of Crosby URC are strong supporters of the work of Christian Aid.
They respond quickly and give generously to the disaster appeals initiated
by Christian Aid. In response to the recent Goma Volcano disaster £145
was raised in two weeks.
Each year two money raising appeals at
Lent and Harvest are supported. Our total for giving to Christian Aid is
around £1000 but we do not stop there.
Many members of our
congregation take part in the distribution and collection of envelopes for
Christian Aid Week which this year is from May 12th to 18th with a theme
focusing on the new “Trade for Life" campaign.
This campaign
is aimed at changing the way international trade currently works against
the poor. Our Christian Aid notice-board at the rear of the church and near
to where tea, coffee, and biscuits are served after every Sunday service
has already carried a number of Trade Justice posters.
We have
sold badges and distributed postcards which are then sent to Members of
Parliament to try to prompt them to keep the issue in the public domain.
